Saltmarket

Welcome to my wee photoblog on Glasgow, where we feature the  joys and unjoys of walking and cycling through a fascinating, beautiful and often badly run city. For the blog's origin and an alphabetical list of posts  see the 'Introduction' post  -

The date  is 5 October 2010, and we are walking away from the high Court on the second day of the Tommy and Gail Sheridan trial - see

We're heading out into the Saltmarket

Looking up to Glasgow Cross

The Saltmarket runs from the Clyde to Glasgow Cross. It gets its name from the salt merchants who sold salt to the fisher fowk of the Bridgegate. See
Now the merchants sell antique  DVDs
Sun is all on the west side of the street - Glasgow is very much a city of  light and dark

The magnificent St Andrews in  the Square - and paid for by slave labour in the West Indies. see

'Who needs Viagra'. Not sure what kind of unlucky animal the fisherman is holding

Merry Christmas - it's 5 October
